This cozy little place always gets 5....that's right...5 stars (from me)! So many places around the lake; we'll; stink! But (not) The Steak Inn. The steaks have a loss of smoke, that taste wonderful. And that little crazy salad bar...gosh so I like it. Homemade dressings and croutons. And an onion salad....has celery seed to set it off...I just love the cold salad dishes.
My only knock on the place: They need to have real bacon bits on the salad bar - (not) those Baco Bacon but crapper things. But other than that.....
I suggest you hit this place up - and enjoy the dining at this place....Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lisa B.Kansas City, MO1101Aug 6, 2023

We stopped in on a Sunday evening and even though it was quite busy we were seated almost immediately. The staff was really hustling to serve everyone efficiently and I give them a thumbs up for succeeding.
The salad bar was plentiful and fresh. Our dinner was very good and we enjoyed the enclosed patio seating. We will certainly be back to try more of the menu. RECOMMENDEDHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jake S.Eureka, MO0198Nov 25, 2023
Best place in shell Knob. Perfect for a quick date. Super good prices for good food. And the service is great.

We went for my birthday dinner. Our 1st time visiting. We'll definitely be back. The salad bar was satisfactory, our steaks were cooked over a open fire & the portion sizes are very generous. Our server did a good job, considering how busy they were. We had to flag her down for water refill & check when done, but like I said, very busy. The offer military discount & we spoke to the hostess who informed us they have been open for 48yrs. We got there right at opening & there was already 20 vehicles in the parking lot. The restaurant looks like a large house that was converted. Excellent seating areas throughout & there were several large parties the night we went. Definitely want to make a reservation if possible. Well worth the drive from anywhere near or around Branson Mo.

I am very sad to see the decline of this once favorite date night spot of ours. I just cannot imagine that this place can't do better with the amount of business it seems to get especially during lake season. We waited patiently at the front to put our name down and it was as if we were putting them out inside of them being happy we were there. Once we were seated, old menus had prices covered with with ugly black stickers (many torn) so you no idea the price of anything at all. We decided what to order and then told they didn't have that. Asked about market price of the lobster (over $100 ) Seriously... we could eat at Level 2 in Branson and get fine dining service for less than that.
But regardless, we settled on something to eat after providing our waitress with a pen...she was clearly not happy to be there, possibly overwhelmed or overworked.
Salad bar was fine... not as many items as before but it was fresh and tasty. And our food was fine. Nothing fabulous but it was good. The bartender in the bar was great while we waited to be seated... friendly and made nice drinks. I think had we eaten at the bar our experience would have definitely been taken up a notch in the service department for sure.
Yes, I know food prices are high and labor is tough to find but in a touristy lake area, print some new menus, raise your prices a tad a pay a wage to get some help. I'm glad we didn't take guests with us.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andrea R.Aurora, CO012Sep 11, 2023
My husband and I were here on a Sunday night with a party of 18 people. The restaurant was busy but the staff handled our party very well. The salad bar is great. I had deep fried shrimp, which was really good for $17. Although my baked potato was cold. My husband had the filet. He said is was done perfectly and well seasoned. However, $42 for a 6 oz. filet is over-priced.

All the food and service was great! But only one trip to the salad bar is kind of selfish of them for the cost of the meal. Makes the hospitality seem a little fake.

Pan fried walleye and salad bar are my favorite! My husband loves to get a medium rare ribeye and it never disappoints.

Always excellent and great service! The salad bar is the best and we were seated quickly. The waitress was very attentive and we loved sitting in the front area with all the windows.
